Meeting the Senses - Presence and Insight Dialogue in the Heart of Summer

Teachers
Roxanne Dault & Brent Beresford

When
August 9 - 12, 2024

Where
Villa St-Martin
Pierrefonds, QC

Our senses are filled with wonder during the summer months: the colors, the sounds that surround us, the freshness and warmth of the air, the connection with others and so much more! We are sensitive and also vulnerable, at times, to this dynamic world around us.

This meditation retreat offers an opportunity to immerse ourselves deeply in the practice of mindfulness meditation and also to honor connection to the other through conscious dialogue. We'll explore the fundamental teachings of this age-old practice by cultivating a stable, caring heart and inviting, at times, practice with the other. This retreat is a good opportunity to discover Conscious Dialogue, and to go deeper for those who already know it. We'll navigate the space between silence and conscious dialogue, meditation and relationship, letting wisdom unfold in all aspects of our being.

Guided meditations, instructions and the opportunity to ask questions and discuss your practice with the teachers in group meetings, and individually on request, will make this retreat accessible to beginners and experienced meditators alike.

Roxanne and Brent have been teaching together at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) in the Attentive Presence program for several years, and are committed to passing on their love for these practices that invite kindness and inner stability.

This retreat is taught in French.

Teachers

Roxanne Dault

Roxanne Dault teaches meditation in Canada, USA and in France. She has been dedicated to this path for almost two decades, sitting on long retreats both in Asia and in the West. A Guiding Teacher at True North Insight, Roxanne teaches in a variety of environments including in a graduate program at Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), in corporate settings and in diverse organizations. Her teachings take root mainly from the lineage of Mahasi Sayadaw. She is trained in Somatic Experiencing®, a body-mind approach aimed at relieving the symptoms of trauma and stress. Brent Beresford

Brent Beresford's greatest teachers are his children, who very often show him how unreasonable his expectations for them are. This encourages him to invest in relationship and community practice. His work is grounded in the power of relationship, and he has been accompanying individuals and groups in transformative processes since 2002. He has been trying to transmit the teachings of the Dhamma in various forms since 2015; through approaches based on mindful presence (he is a teacher in the mindful presence program at UQÀM) and teaching the practice of conscious dialogue (insight dialogue). Brent strives to explore how we can find an enchanting brightness and melody in the darkness of our lives (inspired by Wendell Berry). His origins are mixed race, and he identifies as gender non-conforming (pronouns they/them).
