During this study and practice retreat held in silence at beautiful Galilee Centre, we will travel, step by step, breath by breath, on the Buddha's ancient path to wisdom and discover how this is altering our mind and brain. Dr. Judson Brewer, Director of Research at U Mass Center for Mindfulness, and Pascal Auclair, Guiding Teacher at True North Insight, will share their knowledge and passion for Dharma-based mindfulness practices through talks and PowerPoint in a setting conducive to liberating insights and the sure heart’s release.

 

 

About Pascal Auclair

Pascal Auclair has been immersed in Buddhist practice and study since 1997, sitting retreats in Asia and America with revered monastics and lay teachers. He has been mentored by Joseph Goldstein and Jack Kornfield at the Insight Meditation Society (IMS) in Massachusetts and Spirit Rock Meditation Center in California, where he is now enjoying teaching retreats. Pascal also teaches in Quebec and in other Canadian provinces. His depth of insight, classical training, and creative expression all combine in a wise and compassionate presence. In addition, his warmth and humour make Pascal a much appreciated teacher.

 

 

About Dr. Judson Brewer

Dr. Judson Brewer, MD PhD is the Director of Research at the Center for Mindfulness and associate professor in medicine and psychiatry at UMass Medical School. A psychiatrist and internationally known expert in mindfulness training for addictions, Brewer has developed and tested novel mindfulness programs for addictions, including both in-person and app-based treatments. He started meditating on his first day of medical school in 1996. He has been researching the clinical and neurobiological effects of mindfulness training since 2006. He founded the New Haven Insight Meditation group in 2008, which he led until joining the Center for Mindfulness in 2014. He studied with Ginny Morgan from 1998-2011 and has been under the guidance of Joseph Goldstein since 2008.

ARRIVAL TIME: 3:30-5:30 pm, Wednesday, May 31. The retreat will conclude by lunch on Sunday, June 4. Everyone is welcome to stay for lunch.

 

COST: TNI is dedicated to offering affordable rates to all. TNI retreat fees are on a sliding scale basis that allows participants to pay according to individual means. Fees do not include compensation for the teachings, and teachers rely on the generosity of retreatants for a sustainable income. There is an opportunity to offer dana (donations) to the teachers at the end of each retreat. The deposit is included in all of our fees.
